Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wilton, Iowa. The officiant will be Fr. Robert Busher.
Serving as casket bearers will be her Grandsons and Godson.
Interment will take place at the Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton, Iowa followed by a luncheon at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wilton, Iowa in her memory.
Bona L.”Bonnie” Geering, age 81, of Wilton, Iowa, died on Friday, August 30, 2013 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. She was enroute to Branson, Missouri with her husband, Otto, to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary and a family reunion.
Bonnie was born April 18, 1932 to Louis A. and Caroline (Sturwold) Placke in Dayton, Ohio. In 1950 she graduated from St. Joseph Commercial High School in Dayton, Ohio. She married Otto J. Geering on September 12, 1953 at Immaculate Conception Church in Dayton, Ohio. She was employed at Dayton, Power & Light Co., and Mellon National Bank, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Bonnie provided home child care from 1979 until 1991.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wilton, Iowa and the Durant Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, dancing, classical music, playing dominos and cards.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband Otto of Wilton, Iowa, her son Stephen (Gina) Geering of Blue Grass, Iowa, her daughters: Laura (Richard) Johannsen of Jacksonville, Florida, Cheryl (Jack) Stavana of San Juan Capistrano, California, Dr. Deborah (Helmut) Geering-Fend of Redondo Beach, California, Kathryn (Mitchel) Martin of Oxford Junction, Iowa and Dr. Jill (John) Matheson of Douglas, Alaska, 14 grandchildren: Joshua, Jason, Alisha, Grace, Kristel, Heidi, A.J., Jake, Michael, Julie, Adam, Kayla, Alexander, and Jamie, 11 great grandchildren: Annabelle, Luke, Mattias, Sarai, Elizabeth, Cannon, Austin, Amelia, Asher, Isaac, and Henry, her sister Dolores Reed of Melbourne, Florida and her brother David (Carol) Placke of Centerville, Ohio , and a special friend, Avarie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two nephews.
