Phyllis and family,
My prayers go out to each and everyone of you. Hold tight to the wonderful memories you shared and rejoice with the Angels, for your Father is in Heaven and waits for you there. Phyllis, this poem is for you and your sister.
Never Ready to Say Goodbye
We're never ready to say goodbye
To someone we hold dear.
If it were up to us, dear Dad,
We'd always keep you here.
But God has reasons of His own
And plans we cannot know,
And these are always for our good,
Though it may seem not so.
Our arms are empty and our hearts
Are filled with tears and grief,
For we who loved each day with you,
Now find those days too brief.
Yet if we could only heaven see,
We'd know you're happy there,
And we would never call you back
When such great joy you share.
And so we'll trust you to God's great care
And know some day, once more,
We'll hold you to our hearts again
When we reach heaven's shore.
(Poem by Saralyn Smith)

Phyllis, I am so sorry for your loss - I know words can't comfort much at a time like this, but please take comfort in the fact that you'll see your daddy again! Hold onto that hope with all your heart, and know that we all care for you and have you in our thoughts. Please make sure you eat and drink plenty of water - even if you don't feel hungry or thirsty and take care of yourself. Call me if you need me!!! |

Phyllis I know there isn't much a person can say or do to help at a time like this. I just know that our "Daddies" are always our "Daddies" no matter how old we get and it hurts something awful to lose them. I know how close you were to your Dad just by how you talked about him. My heart feels your pain and you are in my prayers. God Bless you and your family at this time.

Cookie, Kenny & Family. My deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved husband, father & best friend. This past week has been a tremendous toll on you as you have watched Hoke pass peacefully into that "good night". He is smiling down from heaven & can now remember all the joy & prayers you bestowed on him in his final days. You will be truly rewarded. I remember working with Hoke at Star Forms & how intellegent and soft spoken he was . He was always proud of his "girls" and said how lucky he was. You will always have a special spot in my heart & I will always valued your friendship. See you soon! |

I used to run into Hoke every morning on our way to work at the Bettendorf Post Office. I was just a young kid working for the bank and Hoke taught me a lot through our daily conversations. We would run into each other occaisionally in the years after that, and he always remembered me by name. He always struck me as a patient kind and caring man with real dignity. Traits I tried to pick up from him. You are missed. |

Patty and Phyllis,
We have such a rich heritage from our dads! Uncle Junior and my dad, Clifford Bruffey, bore the same smile and same Spirit. As a niece, Uncle Junior brought a sense of friendliness and warmth to me. He and dad loved the Lord and loved His Word and couldnt have set a better example! We have been blessed! May God honor them through us! you are loved! I have wonderful memories of Uncle Junior and Aunt Cookie! Love you Aunt Cookie! |
