John A. Luth Friday, June 17, 1927 - Monday, January 25, 2010

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 4 - 7 P.M. With a vigil service following at 7 PM. at the Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton, IA. Additional visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wilton, IA. Services will be held on Friday, January 29, 2010, at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wilton, IA. The officiant will be Father James Vrba. Serving as casket bearers will be his grandsons: Jacob Gunia, Adam Leming, Anthony Leming, Ryan Cristelli, Shane Cristelli, Brendan Kapella, Benjamin Kapella, Joshua Luth, Jonathon Luth, James Luth, Stephen Luth and Abraham Leming. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Wilton, IA. Memorials may be left to the Area Foundation of AA.

John A. Luth, age 82, of Muscatine, IA, formerly of Wilton, IA, died on Monday, January 25, 2010 at his home. John was born June 17, 1927 to Alfred and Elsie (Lami) Luth in Harpers Ferry , IA. He married Mary Kenney on April 30, 1949 in Burlington, IA. He graduated from high school. Then enter the military during WWII serving in the Navy aboard the USS Venninnes. John was a farmer in Muscatine County for 45 years as well as working for Heinz, Muscatine, IA in production,. He also worked as a Maintence Director at Lutheran Homes, Muscatine, IA. In his employment he recieved many awards including employee of the year at Heinz and numerous awards as maintence director. He was a member of St. Mary's Wilton, IA, St. Mary's Muscatine, IA, and Knights of Columbus, Muscatine, IA. He was a founding father of Area Foundation AA, Muscatine, IA. As well as an advisor for the Iowa State Commision on Farming and served for many years on the West Liberty Fair Board. He served on the FFA board, Wilon, IA, where he helped established the FFA building and program. John prided himself as being a problem solver whether it be electrical, mechanical or personal. In his later years he created birdhouses and flower arrangements for his friends and family.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Mary of Muscatine, IA, his daughters: Lynn Leming of Davenport, IA, Pat and her husband John Gunia of Souix City, IA, Diana and her husband Pat Cristelli of Ada, OK, Pam and her husband Terry Hansen of Davenport, IA and Becky and her husband Ken Kapella of Hibbing, MN and his son David and his wife Cyndi Luth of Muscatine, IA, 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters: Ella Mae Schwenker of AZ, Elinor and her husband John Thorston of IA and his brother Delmar and his wife Ruth Luth of Blue Grass, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Robert and Henry Luth and his sister Carrie.
