Dale H. Paustian Tuesday, September 01, 1925 - Friday, February 19, 2010

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 22, 2010 from 5 to 8 P.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, IA. Additional visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, IA. Serving as casket bearers will be Dales grandsons: Matthew Paustian, Michael Paustian, Terri Hansen, Ryan Clay, Jennifer Paustian, Jamie Leggett, Thomas Paustian and Tracy Paustian. Interment will take place at the Walcott Cemetery, Walcott, IA. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for children, Davenport Schools Foundation, Walcott Fire Department, or St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Dale H. Paustian, age 84, of Walcott, IA, died on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, IA. Dale H. Paustian was born September 1, 1925 the son of Horace L. and Carma A. (Soenke) Paustian in the farm house of his parents. He attended Fairview #2 rural school and graduated from Davenport High School in 1943. He married Carolyn Kluever, daughter of Waldo C. and Ruby V. (Wiese) Kluever, on November 13, 1949 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport. He has been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since his marriage. Dale farmed in partnership with his father until he started farming on his own in 1952. A family farm corporation was established in 1978 with his sons. Dale was very active in community affairs. As a youth he was active in 4-H and later served on the Scott County 4-H youth committee. He was a board member of Walcott Community Schools, Davenport Community Schools, and the Davenport Schools Foundation. He also served on the Walcott Trust and Savings Bank board, was a member and chairman of the Walcott Mutual Insurance Association board, and a member and president of the former Farmers Elevator Coop of Walcott. Dale was a board member and president of the Walcott Community Club and he served on the Walcott Day Committee. Dales activities also included the Scott County Pork Producers, Scott County Cattlemen and the Scott County Farm Bureau. He was an active member of the Republican Party and served on the state central committee. He was a charter member of the professional Farmers of America. He was a member of Moose Lodge #28 since 1948, a life member of Knights of Pythias, Wilton Lodge #167 A.F. & A.M., Kaaba Shrine and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Dale was a member of CASI, Golden Wedding Club and Plus 60 Club. He enjoyed his grandchildren, great grandchildren, going out to the farm and playing cards. He was a sports fan and enjoyed goint to sports events. He was a Cubs fan and he attended the last Cubs World Series against Detroit in 1945.

Surviving him are his wife Carolyn; son Kent (Marcia) of Walcott, daughter Darsa (James Clay) of Kansas City, MO; and son Ross (Carol) of Walcott, 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Alvin and Mardelle Lamp, and nephew Lee Lamp.
