Kenneth W. Sorgenfrey Sunday, August 02, 1931 - Saturday, February 20, 2010

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from 4-7 P.M. at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant, IA. Additional visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Durant, IA. Services will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at 10:30 A.M. at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, IA. The officiant will be Pastor Shelley Nelson. Musical selections will be provided by organist Sue Voss. Serving as casket bearers will be his grandsons: Joseph Reimers, Devin Reimers, Grant Reimers, Michael Johnston, Nicholas Sorgenfrey, Cody Sorgenfrey, Curtis Sorgenfrey, and Gabriel Evans. Interment will take place at the Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport, IA. Memorial donations may be made to VA of Iowa or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Durant, IA in his memory.

Kenneth W. Sorgenfrey, age 78, of Stockton, IA, died on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton, IA. Kenneth was born August 2, 1931 to Harry and Ella (Kai) Sorgenfrey in Durant, IA. He lived in the Durant area his entire life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during the Korean Conflict. He married Veronna M. Puck on September 14, 1957 in Davenport, IA. In early years Kenneth worked at Ralston Purina and was a mechanic at Ritzie Implement in Davenport, IA working on Massey Ferguson tractors. He and Tootie farmed in Scott County from 1967 1999. Ken was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Durant, IA, American Guernsey Cattle Club and the Scott County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed working on tractors and spending time with his family.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Veronna "Tootie" Sorgenfrey of Stockton, IA, his daughters: Sandra and her husband Jeff Anderson of Aurora, CO, Marilyn and her husband Tim Reimers of Durant, IA, Carol and her husband Bob Evans of Coralville, IA, Linda Anderson of Waukee, IA and Susan Sorgenfrey of West Des Moines, IA, his sons: Glenn and his wife Shelly Sorgenfrey of Durant and Myron and his wife Lis Sorgenfrey of Graham, WA, 18 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, his sister Mary and her husband Mel Norton of Wilton, IA and his brother Howard and his wife Pat Sorgenfrey of Lisbon, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Roger, Jim, LeMoyne "Butch" and Stanley Sorgenfrey and his great grandson Tanner Reimers.
