James F. Grell Friday, October 17, 1930 - Saturday, May 15, 2010

Inurnment will take place on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Durant Cemetery, Durant, IA. Memorial donations may be made to the Durant Cemetery Association in his memory.

James F. Grell, age 79, of Durant, IA, died on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport, IA. James F. Grell was born October 17, 1930 to James and Henrietta (Belter) Grell in Omaha, NE. Jim graduated from the Durant High School in 1949 and the University of Iowa. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked as a grounds keeper at the Durant Cemetery for many years. Jim enjoyed reading. He took great pride in caring for the Durant Cemetery and knew a great deal of cemetery and family history. In 2009, Jim wrote and published "You Have a Friend in Honest John" a work of humor.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his nieces: Lisa (Jeff) Longtin of Muscatine, IA and Sharon (Rodney) Hirst of Moline, IL as well as several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Howard Grell.
