Thomas Grant Jr. Thursday, May 15, 1941 - Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 21, 2010 from 4-7 P.M. at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant, IA. A Christian Wake Service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Additional visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the Church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at 3:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wilton, IA. The Celebrant will be Fr. James Vrba. Serving as pallbearers will be Vern VanDeWalle, Arnie Kempf, Tim Wenthe, Brian Yerington, Al Hoffman, Joe Vastine, Everett Ulch and Danny Shaffer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alasdair Lowdon, David Jungjohann, Mike Negus, Rick Porter, Duane Isenberg, Tim Voelkers, Bernard Geurink, Harland Bland and Tim Sterner. Interment will take place at the Durant Cemetery, Durant, IA. Memorial donations may be made to Genesis Hospice or the Durant American Legion in his memory.

Thomas Grant Jr., age 69, of Durant, IA, died on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Thomas was born March 13, 1941 to Thomas and Susan (Connelly) Grant in Denny, Scotland. He married Sadie M. McNaught on October 5, 1963 in Denny, Scotland. She preceded him in death on June 13, 1985. He later married Sally J. Sturms on November 20, 1993 in Davenport, IA. Tom retired from HON Industries, Muscatine where he had worked for 30 years. Previously, he had worked at the Durant Aluminum Foundry. He was a member of the Muscatine Muncipal Golf Club and numerous pool and dart leagues.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Sally of Durant, IA his son Derek and his wife Sue Grant of Davenport, IA, his daughter Alexandra Grant and her fiance Alasdair Lowdon of Haddington, Scotland, his step-children: Donna and her husband Rick Porter of Blue Grass, IA, Judith and her husband Mike Negus of Austin, TX, Sharon and her husband David Jungjohann of Bettendorf, IA and Duane and his wife Nedra Isenberg of Utica, NY, 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He is also survived by his sisters: Catherine Pauline of Denny Scotland, Susan McQuade of Falkirk, Scotland, Jane Grant of Denny Scotland and his brothers: Hugh and his wife Cathy Grant of Denny Scotland and Owen and his wife Anne Grant of Dunipace, Scotland as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, an infant son Thomas, his sister Helen Pender and an infant brother John Grant.
